Frequently Asked Questions

The best time is during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which starts the month you turn 65 and enroll in Part B. During this 6-month window, you have a Guaranteed Issue Right. This means insurance companies must accept you regardless of any health conditions, and they cannot charge you a higher premium based on your health.

If you are outside of a Guaranteed Issue period, you will have to answer health questions (go through medical underwriting). The insurance company can deny your application or charge you a higher premium. It is crucial to enroll during your 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment Window to avoid this!

If a doctor accepts Original Medicare (Part A and Part B), they must accept your Medicare Supplement plan, regardless of the company (e.g., Aetna, Mutual of Omaha). Medigap plans have no doctor networks (HMO/PPO limitations); they travel with you anywhere in the U.S. that accepts Original Medicare.

Medigap plans do not cover prescription drugs. Drug coverage is separate and requires a stand-alone Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. We can help you find the most cost-effective Part D plan to pair with your chosen Medigap plan.
